Color TV: Where are the minorities in primetime?
Days after Rick’s interview, some media outlets began to examine the substance of Rick’s comments: the lack of diversity in cable news (specifically, in prime time) and the difficulties facing minorities.
During his appearance on Good Morning America, Rick stressed the point: “There’s not a single Hispanic, a single Asian American, or a single African American [in prime-time cable news].”
The Washington Post broke it down into a simple list that speaks volumes:
MSNBC: Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman, Lawrence O’Donnell
CNN: Wolf Blitzer, John King, Kathleen Parker, Eliot Spitzer, Larry King, Anderson Cooper
FOX News: Shepard Smith, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren
